They say you can’t go back again, but I did it and survived! I was invited to sell my books at the United Way Bake and Sale at the Faculty of Education, Western University. It was a very pleasant time chatting to other vendors, staff members who remembered me, and many young students who I warned not to read my novels but to definitely buy one for mother, a favourite aunt, or a grandmother as a Christmas present.
This approach certainly got a few laughs and some sales, particularly as I had some freebies to accompany a book sale. Most popular was a coffee mug with chalk paint outside so new teachers could write a daily message for students to read.
I could not help thinking back to my teaching experiences in the FOE from the 70s to 2011. Now you know why I usually have a character in my Prime Time novels who is, or has been, a teacher. That role is a part of me forever.
